Zero, the legendary psychedelic San Francisco jazz/rock dance band, has announced that their surviving members will reunite for what is certain to be an incredible night of music at the Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA on December 29, 2016.  The core of the original band, guitar player extraordinaire Steve Kimock and drummer Greg Anton, will join with long-time collaborators bassist Bobby Vega and keyboardist Pete Sears, plus special guests to play their unique brand of mind- and genre-bending instrumental and vocal tunes.

Zero has soldiered on, playing periodic shows for over 30 years despite sustaining the deaths of members including guitarist John Cipollina, sax player Martin Fierro, and vocalist Judge Murphy.

While most of Zero’s musical compositions were written by Anton and Kimock,  the lyrics to their vocal tunes were penned by none other than Grateful Dead lyricist, Robert Hunter.  Nonetheless, the band has a sound that is unique and all its own.  Still, fans of psychedelic rock bands like the Grateful Dead should immediately grok the Zero sound.  As Hunter has said: “Anybody who likes Coltrane likes Miles, right? … And anybody who likes Zero’s gonna like the Dead, and…vice versa…I would tend to call it indigenous San Francisco music.”

Zero’s show on December 29th at the Sweetwater will be followed by two Steve Kimock & Friends shows on December 30th and New Year’s Eve, December 31st.
