The Electric Light Orchestra, popularly known as ELO and, now re-branded for its 2018 World Tour as ‘Jeff Lynne’s ELO’, landed in Denver, CO at the Pepsi Center on August 8, 2018. Lynne, fronting a 13 piece band, and a concert production that included an amazing light show, lasers and projected images, played to a packed house that spent most of the show on its feet, singing along gleefully. In addition to their own classics such as Evil Woman, Livin’ Thing, Can’t Get It Out of My Head, Sweet Talkin’ Woman, Telephone Line, and Don’t Bring Me Down, the band also payed tribute to Lynne’s “other band,” The Traveling Wilburys, by playing their top single, Handle With Care. The song featured projected images of the three fallen Wilburys: Nelson (George Harrison), Lefty (Roy Orbison) and Charlie T. (Tom Petty), which elicited heart-felt cheers from the audience, as well as the two surviving Wilburys, Otis (Jeff Lynne himself) and Lucky (Bob Dylan).
The evening closed out with a an extended cover of Chuck Berry’s Roll Over Beethoven.
The tour continues with 2 stops in Texas and one each in Illinois, Michigan, Toronto, New York. and Pennsylvania before heading on to Europe. Jeff Lynne’s ELO is a concert experience that is definitely not to be missed!
